I never knew it would feel like this!!
My mom's first grandbaby!
I don't even know where to begin! I'm so excited to finally have him here. Words can't describe the awe and wonder I feel every time I look at my little boy.
Hudson Nathan Houston was born at 12:42 am on 08/08/08, which is basically the BEST birthday ever right?!?! He weighed in at a healthy 8 lbs. 4 oz. and is 19.5 inches tall.
Getting him here was not nearly as bad as I thought it would be, once we finally got started!! I was scheduled to be at the hospital to be induced at 6:30 am on Thursday the 7th, but had to call in at 5:30 to confirm. When I called they informed me that there were extremely busy and didn't have the room or the staff for me to come in at that time so I was to call back at 10:30. So I went back to bed a little disheartened but thankful to get some extra rest for the big day ahead.
When I called at 10:30 they told me they could start me at 11:30, so we quickly got ready and headed to the hospital. After sitting in the waiting area we finally got into our room just after 12 and I was on a pit drip by 12:30. Then the waiting began. The contractions came pretty soon, but they were just slightly uncomfortable, nothing at all, and they weren't really dialating me. At about 2:30 my doctor came in to check me and decided to break my water at that time to hopefully speed things along. She also told the nurse to increase the pit. Within a half hour or 45 minutes the contractions got increasingly worse, resembling the worst cramps I had ever had, and by 4:45 I was getting an epidural. I had enough pain to appreciate labor and REALLY appreciate the drugs!
From there things progressed slowly but surely until I felt the need to start pushing at midnight, and 42 minutes later I was holding my perfect little angel on my chest! There were a few tense moments when they started talking about a possible c-section because his heartbeat was irregular, then when they realized how big he was and thought his shoulders may not pass through without complications. But, all was well and we are so happy to have him here!
He's a great baby! He's mellow and happy. We are lucky to be his parents.
